Getting Your Happy Back!!
The first thing to realise is that Happy is an emotion. Your emotions indicate how you are thinking and what you believe at that moment. If you are unhappy or have any other emotional suffering, it is because your conditioning and belief system needs some change.
If you follow the thread of all negative emotions backwards, you will always find inaccurate beliefs. By inaccurate, I mean you have formed a belief based on inaccurate information. All of us have both accurate and inaccurate conditioning. This is neither bad nor good, it is just is a result of our genetics and every experience we have ever had.
The great thing is that each and everyday, in each and every moment, you get the chance to see how your beliefs are working in relation to reality. By reality, I mean, “that which is really happening.” Not “that which you wish was happening.”
When life doesn’t go to plan, is when you really get a chance to observe your level of Wisdom. If you suffer a lot, then you know that you need to change some of your beliefs, as quite clearly, they are not working for you. I don’t believe we are on this earth to suffer!! The less you suffer, the wiser you are.
Now, don’t be hard on yourself, we are all at different levels of Wisdom in different areas of our life and it is not meant to be and can’t possibly be any other way. The key is, once you truly understand these concepts, you then have the CHOICE to make change.
All Happy really means is that right now, life has gone exactly as you imagined or expected it to.
When you are Unhappy, it is usually because life hasn’t gone how you wanted or expected or someone hasn’t done something you wanted or expected.
Acceptance of all our experiences (good or bad) is the key. Not just the good!!
- This involves gaining an accurate understanding of life.
- Understanding that ALL experiences hold value.
- It is all your experiences that make you the unique person that you are and leads to you contributing your unique flavor in the world around you.
Appreciating your life and looking for what you are Grateful for in your life.
This is also very important. We spend so much time trying to force life to go how we wanted it to and looking for Happiness. When we look for Gratitude and Appreciate ourselves, others and life, Happiness is the by-product of that.
Some other tips to become a Happier person or a glass half full person are:
- Understand that you cannot control all of life.
- Know that you cannot get life wrong or fail at life.
- Understand that everything that happens is reality. Sometimes we are stuck on what we wished would have happened.
- Find acceptance of all that happens.
- Appreciate and find value in all of your experiences.
- Choose to look for what you are grateful for, rather than happiness.
- Understand that life is a neutral screen, until you add your beliefs to it.
- Understand that life will always have so called problems and stress. Problems are there to learn from and find solutions to and if you suffer because of these problems is a choice you make.
- Know that you are and have always been doing the best you can with the beliefs you have at that current time. This applies to others also.
- Know with certainty that life is not out to get you.
- Know that you are meant to be here and the fact that you are means you are wired for survival and worthy of love and belonging.
- You are connected to absolutely everyone and everything, genetically, atomically and universally.
Some things to practice this week....
- Each morning and evening find 3 things you are truly grateful for and make sure they are different each time. You can think of them in the morning and write them down of a night.
- When you notice an unhappy feeling, look back on what you were thinking and change it to accurate thinking
