Simple Green Smoothie

A Green Smoothie can look daunting to some.  Once you take the plunge and have one, you may be pleasantly surprised!!  What better way to feed your body two cups of spinach?

Scientifically, dark leafy greens contain: high-quality amino acids, important minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and beneficial phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are plant-based chemicals that support your immune system, improve health and longevity, and may reduce life- threatening diseases.  Knowing this, we still like to keep our Green Smoothie simple and tasty.

When making the recipe below, choose the leafy greens of your choice and make sure you vary the ingredients.  It is also important to change which liquid base you use.  This allows your body to absorb different vitamins, minerals and nutrients.  Banana is our choice of ideal fruit, though you are welcome to slot in a substitute from the list.  If you would like that extra health kick, you can add any of the boost ingredients.

2 CUPS LEAFY GREENS     +     2 CUPS LIQUID BASE     +     3 CUPS RIPE FRUIT

Spinach                                                 Water                                                  Banana       Pear

Kale                                                       Coconut Water                               Mango        Apple

Romaine                                              Coconut Milk                                    Berries       Pineapple

Bok Choy                                             Almond Milk                                     Orange       

Swiss Chard                                                                                                       Avocado

Collards                                                                                                               Peach

Dandelion                                                                                                           Grapes

 

INSTRUCTIONS:                                                                                                     

1. Blend leafy greens and liquid base together first.                      

2. Add fruits and blend again.                                                        

*Use at least one frozen fruit to fill Smoothie, to keep it cool.

*This serves 2.

 

BOOST IT:

Chai Seeds, Hemp Seeds, Cacao, Coconut Oil, Hemp Protein Powder, Cinnamon, Almond Butter, Flax Seeds, Acai Powder .
